Engineering Senior Technician L2 - Hourly



  • Cummins Technical Center - Charleston is a multiple shift operation. The initial assignment for this position will support the 1st Shift Schedule; however, employees must be willing to change to any shift schedule, if required for business reasons.

  • Work Safely!Followinstructions provided by the test engineers to set-up diesel engines for test .Communicatewith peers and coaches on issues and test status.

  • Performs rig, engine and component builds, tear down, and inspections. Grades and measures components. Connect engine to test cell air handling, exhaust and other test cell subsystems as required. Create sketches and drawings for fabricating necessary piping, tubing and brackets. Connect required test instrumentation and data acquisition devices to engine using the test cell console , perform software configuration as per test plan.

  • Execute written test procedures, document findings and conclusions.

  • Update the Multi State Monitor (MSU) status to reflect status of the test.

  • Perform required data collection and technical report writing and update test Cell LogBook.

  • Training: The company will provide training both in-class and on-the-job , as needed. The coaches will evaluate performance and recommend appropriate training.


  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification;

  • OR Associates degree in a relevant field and at least 2 years of relevant esperience;

  • OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field;

  • OR Eight years of equivalent experience in a relevant field.


  • Knowledge in Diesel Engine subsystems and operational theory.

  • Experience in replacing parts, teardown and rebuilding engines.

  • PC operation including MS Word and Excel.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of instrumentations and measuring systems.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of fluid dynamics and flow control

  • Basic knowledge and understating of electrical circuitry.

  • Possess the skills to integrate subsystems into one system.

  • Troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical thinking

  • Self-starter, able to work well with others in a small team environment

  • Be customer-led, result oriented, and possess the ability to met deadlines

  • Strive for continuous improvement
